Meet the Z-Triton. No, it’s not a joke. No, it’s not a Wes Anderson prop. It’s a real amphibious e-bike/camper/boat setup from a Latvian company called Zeltini. And you can buy one starting in 2021.
It’s powered by two, 250w electric motors, which can provide a fair amount of grunt, especially if attached to the proper gear range. The front wheel is a massive, Shaq-sized 36 inches (seriously, Shaq rides a 36er), with two 20-inch wheels in the back.
As you can see in the video below, switching from bike mode to boat mode to camper mode would be pretty easy.
Where this would be useful is a good question. Camping in the lowlands of Europe, heck yes. Following some languid, level bends along the Missouri? Perfect. Floridian backcountry, ideal. A low-key state park campground with a navigable pond? Heaven.
Pricing is expected to be roughly $8,000. Which is a lot of money. But can you really put a price on whimsy?
